This week's game goals...

This past weekend, the guild worked together and got several people their keys for Karazhan, including me! We've also been recruiting, and have nearly enough folks to pull together a single team to start exploring the instance.

We are short on tanks, so it looks like I'll get to off-tank. While I'm already uncrittable, my armor is a bit low at 19K, and my unbuffed health is in the 12K range. With that in mind, there are some things I can do to improve my gear, and I'd like to get them done before we go into Karazhan. It honestly feels early to me -- I haven't been through all the 5-man instances yet. But in support of the guild, and those who have been running the instances for months now, I am glad to attempt. And it's not as if I can't ((sigh)) PUG Tank the others -- I often get whispers asking if I'm feral specced.

So. Goals:

  • Get honored with Scryers to get the low-end shoulder enchant. (Meanwhile, hope I get two Arcane Tomes to drop, or else I will be buying them on the AH.)

  • Run through Arcatraz so I can do the quest which will get me the Verdant Gloves

  • Talk to the guild enchanters and/or ask in the Trade channel and put a few more enchants on my current gear.

  • Get revered with Keepers of Time so I can get a Glyph of the Defender for my Stylin Purple Hat.

  • Once I have enchants & new gloves in place, see if I can swap out some +defense gems for +stamina gems

Then I will weep at my virtual bank account, since epic flight training will have to get pushed back once I purchase all that I'm going to need to...

Kitty Gear - a little better

I went ahead and swapped out the +6 defense gem for a +6 agility gem (I had extra defense in bear form), and gemmed up the Scout's Hood with three +6 agility gems and the Glyph of Ferocity. So I'm looking a bit better in cat-form. And the agility will help in bear form as well.

So my +hit is now 56 Hit Rating, up from the 38 I posted earlier. I didn't log out in cat form, so no screenshot. Hit cap is 142, so I have a way to go.

Current Kitty Gear

Just for the record, my current kitty gear is below. Items marked with a * are shared with my tank set.

Head: Stylin' Purple Hat *
with Glyph of Ferocity
Neck: Natasha's Pack Collar
Shoulders: Shoulderpads of Assassination *
with a Thick Golden Draenite and a Thick Dawnstone
Back: Cloak of Impulsiveness
Chest: Dragonhawk Tunic of the Beast
Bracers: Bracers of Finesse
Hands: Ranger Gloves of the Beast
Belt: Manimal's Cinch *
Legs: Leggins of Unending Assault
Boots: Southshore Sneakers
with a Delicate Blood Garnet and a Solid Azure Moonstone
Ring: Ring of the Exarchs
Ring: Warmaul Slayer's Band
Trinket: Terokkar Tablet of Precision
Trinket: Ogre Mauler's Badge
Weapon: Splintering Greatstaff of the Beast
Idol: Idol of the Wild

Green: 8 Blue: 8 Purple: 0

Definitely needs some improvement. Check out the melee stats (self-buffed with Mark of the Wild, no potions):

I especially need to work on hit rating, but I'd like to get my crit rate up above 30% as well.

Top upgrade to-dos:
Shoulders - I need to upgrade my tank shoulders so I can re-gem the shoulderpads with agility or hit gems.
Head - switch to Scout's Hood, gem with +AGI gems; then get ready to run Steamvaults & get Helm of the Claw quest reward -- I need more Cenarion Rep anyhow.
Staff - work through the Ring of Blood quest chain in Nagrand, and get the Staff of Beasts
Waist - get BOOM Operative's Belt or Socrethar's Girdle - quests in Netherstorm; check prices for Belt of Natural Power

The many many alts - priest

While my druid is my main character for WoW, I have a number of alts as well. I'm trying to decide which to level up next. I will probably end up rotating through a few of the many characters, though.

One of those will be my Blood Elf priest (currently level 21), as I'd like to get a heal-specced character into the end-game. Right now, he is Disc/Holy -- I took my first five talent points in wand specialization. I'm rethinking that, and may switch to some sort of shadow/holy build, as much to speed up levelling as anything else. On the other hand, since I really want to be a healing priest, disc/holy is a better mix. None of the top-tier full-spec talents are really exciting me, so I need to do some reading up on talent builds and see what hybrid build I end up liking.

Right now I am leaning toward taking both wand specialization and spirit tap, then taking most of my remaining points in the holy tree, up to Empowered Healing, and the remaining points in the Discipline tree. Silent Resolve will come fairly early, since I'd like to see a bit more of the Azeroth instances, without drawing too much aggro.

When I hit level 58 and am ready to move to outlands, I will respec to fully Disc/Holy in some sort of 21/40 or 18/43 build. Unless I change my mind.

Pardon the interruption

I suppose one of the points of a blog is keeping it up-to-date, isn't it?

Pardon the interruption -- I am finally back to my more usual schedule.
